2012: The year ahead.

Well the New Year buzz has finally subsided and 2012 is it seems in full swing. One of the things I love about the first month of a new year is reading/listening/watching all my creative friends plan out all the things they’re going to accomplish over the year, it’s pretty inspirational and it made me realise that while I’ve always had a career plan I’ve never really planned out my year as such. Plus, after the psychological and emotional cluster-fuck that was 2011 having a year plan could be good.

So what are my aims for 2012? The next 11 months are going to be mostly about writing; the aim being to develop further as a writer, build up some writing credits, as well as write the scripts I plan to direct in 2013 (If there’s still a film industry after the apocalypse of course). I’ve got one short I want to make over the summer but other than that, this year I am solely a writer. I’ve got a pretty diverse slate of scripts planned covering TV pilots, comics, features, shorts, and a web series. Plus there’s the aim of being commissioned to write something. All in all I’ve got plenty to do.

The other aim I’m focusing on for this year is networking, if I’m truly honest I am pretty terrible at it. Misanthropic git that I am and that has to change. So I just plan on starting conversations with as many people as I can, whether it’s asking questions, begging for work or just saying hello.

It’s going to be a productive year. So I’d best go get started.

Stay awesome.
